Share Extension
Analyze a board screenshot shared from any iOS app using the TileTactician Share Extension.
What it does
The TileTactician Share Extension lets you analyze a Scrabble or Crossplay board without manually entering every tile. Share a screenshot from any app — Photos, Messages, Safari — and TileTactician reads the board and opens the analysis view.
How to use
- Take a screenshot of the board (or save a board image).
- Tap the Share button in any iOS app.
- Scroll the share sheet and tap TileTactician.
- The extension reads the board and opens TileTactician with the tiles pre-filled.
- Verify the board, enter your rack, and tap Analyze Board.
Enabling the extension
If TileTactician does not appear in the share sheet:
- Open any app and tap Share.
- Scroll the share sheet all the way to the right and tap More (
···). - Find TileTactician in the list and toggle it on.
- Optionally drag it to the top of the list for quick access.
Accuracy
The extension uses image recognition to read tiles from the screenshot. Accuracy depends on:
- Image clarity — a clean, well-lit screenshot works best
- Board alignment — the board should fill most of the frame
- App rendering — screenshots from the NYT Games app and official Scrabble apps are well-supported
Always verify the imported board before analyzing. Misread tiles produce incorrect results. See Board entry for how to correct individual cells.
Limitations
- iOS only (the Share Extension is an iOS platform feature)
- One board per share — sharing multiple images processes only the first
- The extension does not read the rack; enter your tiles manually after import
